What are the candles made from?

A Simple Bijou’s candles are made from soy wax which is a vegetable-based  (vegan) candle wax. Soy wax has a low melting point and holds fragrance well. With your health in mind soy wax is also clean burning which does not cause a lot of soot, ash, or harsh chemicals into the air.

How long can I burn my candles?

Candles should be burned for no more than 4 hours at a time.

Why do my candles look funny?

Frosting! Remember soy wax is a plant-based, vegetable wax. Temperature and handling can cause it to form a light white coating on some or all of its surface. We do our very best to avoid this during the production process by pouring the melted wax at lower temps, cooling it slowly and evenly, etc. However, it can still happen while the candle is in transit to you or after you’ve placed it in your home.. Burning the candle causes the top layer of wax to melt and re-harden, so the frosting may disappear on its own. If it doesn’t and it’s a real eye sore, you can take a blow dryer on low, warm heat and reheat the top layer gently to melt and re-harden it without frost.

Do you offer wholesale, collabs, or custom candles?

Yes, please send us an inquiry at shop@asimplebijou.com and place wholesale, custom, or collab in the subject. We’d love to work with you and see what magic we can create. Minimum order applies.

What if my package is returned undeliverable?

In the rare occasion your package is returned to us by the carrier as undeliverable you will be issued a refund minus shipping and applicable taxes.

Are the jars reusable?

Absolutely, we recommend after the candle has been extinguished and wax hardens, pour boiling water into a pot with the candle. Let the jar sit in the hot water until the wax has softened. Holding the jar in one hand, use a butter knife in the other hand to loosen the wax. The wick can be removed with pliers if it decides to be stubborn.

How should I ignite my candle?

We recommend using a long-stem candle lighter. Unfortunately, we do not supply these at this time.

What does it mean if the flame on my candle is flickering?

This means it is time to trim that wick. It is recommended to trim the wick before each use.

Why shouldn't I blow out my candle??

Blowing out the candle can cause hot wax to exit the jar and smoke to fill the room. Putting the lid on the candle to extinguish can cause damage to our eco-conscious jars. For proper extinguishing please use a candle snuffer or wick dipper (available for purchase).
